In all my years of living in Delaware, the Eagles never won the Super Bowl. Now that I live thousands of miles away they just did. I was only part of the excitement through social media, friends, and family.
I need to let you know, I’m not the football fan in my family as I only watch the Super Bowls. I don’t have cable TV, nor looked hard to find someone who did, so I didn’t watch the game live this year; I was able to stream the game’s highlights but only on Monday morning.
Now, I realize, I’m an ex-pat.
I don’t belong the same way I used to, to the east coast, and was a little sad about it Sunday. I missed seeing Philly lit up in green and being a part of all the excitement. I was between my past and my present. The roots I put down will always have an east coast flavor to them, and they also need to reflect who and where I am now.
And if I’m in dire straits, there is a local Philly cheese steak place in town. They get their rolls from Amoroso, where else?
