The 2nd time around: My trek across the USA...again!

8/3/2018

Once again I made the trek cross-country. I returned to Delaware last month to pack up the rest of what I wanted to take to Tucson and drove it back in a 15’ U-Haul truck. Okay, I didn’t do the actual driving. I flew my friend, David, out to do that as he had experience with cross-country moves in a truck while towing a car. Needless to say, his skill set was more than mine. In honor of the trip and my journey David played Simon and Garfunkel’s “America” as we drove off. We arrived in Tucson in just over 4 days going through 14 states (one, twice on purpose).
The sorting and packing was a process in and of itself
Luckily my friend Gen (she packs people up professionally) did the boxing up while I sorted and cleaned. Just like when I moved to Tucson, I was not just letting go of stuff, but emotionally as well. I asked myself - “Is it beautiful? Do I love it? Do I have a need for it? How will it look/fit in my home? Is it still me?”
You don't need to move to ask yourself what you love
I don’t think you need to move in order to ask such questions about the things you have, the work you do, even your relationships. There is something about intentionality - really choosing your choices. We all can get lulled into routines as well as relationships, and in the process, lose our WHY. I can tell you, when I really choose, everything changes; I don’t take things, relationships or people for granted. It’s quite an amazing way to live.
Do you need to renew your WHY?
Maybe you were never clear about your intentions to begin with. Now is a perfect time! I’d love to be able to assist, to help you unpack what no longer reflects you or where you are in your life. And you don’t even need to leave the state you live in! Click here to schedule your 30-minute complimentary Discovery Session consultation and start your journey now.

Is your life on autopilot?

7/27/2018

There was something very odd about the intersection, causing me and my friend to feel quite afraid. It wasn’t until the next block that we knew what the problem was - when we made the left-hand turn, cars were kept to the left side of the road. As a result, it felt as if we might be in the crosshairs of oncoming traffic--how scary is that?
Here in the United States, we’re taught to drive on the right side of the road; it’s so engrained that you don’t even think about it. It isn’t until something stops you from staying on automatic pilot, that you start waking up to what’s happening around you, and see where you are.
Are there areas of your life on autopilot?
Living life on autopilot means not being awake to what’s around you and as a result, you may find yourself just going through the motions, whether it’s your work, your relationships, how you spend your time, even where you live.
Do you find yourself just going through the motions? Believe it or not, the work I do with clients is a powerful way to wake up and stop the autopiloting. It can help you feel a real sense of purpose in your life as well as appreciating your skills, talents, and abilities.
Are you ready to wake up?

Virtual Hypnosis: It's easier than you think!

7/16/2018

People ask how I can do virtual hypnosis sessions. More to the point is how I can hypnotize someone at a distance? As an experienced hypnotist with almost two decades of experience, it’s rather simple.

It doesn't matter if we're on Zoom or in the same room
I tell them, “During most of the session your eyes are closed, so it doesn’t really matter if we’re in the same room or not.” and, most of the time they laugh. As for how I can hypnotize someone using FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom, I let them know it’s really quite easy. Hypnosis occurs all the time, when people watch a movie or a television program, and phones/tablets/or computers are really no different!

By following my instructions, a client easily achieves a nice level of hypnosis (a state of increased focused of concentration) while being open to selective acceptable suggestions, ones they helped create. Hypnosis is what allows you to work at the core of what’s been blocking changes you want to make; it lets us work on the cause, not “treat”, so to speak, a symptom.

But don't take my word alone. Here's what two clients have said:
"I was fortunate enough to have begun working with Beth while she was still in Delaware, and when she moved, I got to experience a virtual sessions. As technology is one of my challenges, I found it easiest to simply FaceTime with Beth on my phone. Even with the small screen of my phone, it was simply like having her in the room with me. The work was just as profound, Beth was just as delightful, and just as capable to deeply and serenely place me in hypnosis. I would not hesitate to do more virtual work with Beth, and would offer complete reassurance to anyone who might be concerned about the difference"
Lisa Straughn

"Can you be “virtually” hypnotized? Absolutely, and for me, it’s the very best way. My sessions with Beth have been life changing. They’ve taught me things about myself that I never knew. They’ve made the seemingly impossible, possible. This work is deeply emotional and I really prefer being in the comfort of my own home, wrapped up in my own blanket. After our sessions, I just want to relax, lie back and let my discoveries wash over me. I can’t imagine having to get in the car and navigate traffic. For me, having a peaceful time to reflect after our sessions is almost as important as the work I do with Beth. I am grateful every single day for my new-found peace. If you’re reading this, I think you’re ready too.Be amazed."

5 Tips to Deal with Life's Gutter Balls

7/3/2018

Recently I listened to an interview with Jerry Seinfeld. At one point, he talked about his children, bowling, and how bumper guards don’t allow gutter balls. He asked the question (not verbatim): “Why do we prevent children from getting gutter balls; are we afraid they won’t survive the experience?”
1. Get Ready, Set Aim

Do what many professional athletes know and use --- practice in your own mind! By engaging all your five senses, you create a sensory rich experience that is as effective as actually engaging in the activity!
2. Gutter Balls Happen
You can use it as OMG! or as your inspiration.
3. Course Correct
What can you learn from what worked and what didn’t? Remember, both your mistakes and your successes are equally valuable and important.
4. Imitate Children
Have you ever watched young children at they play? They can have a lot of fun, can’t they? Children learn and experiment through play. How can you make your learning fun?
5. Be Like an Amish Quilt
When Amish women make quilts, they always include a mistake in their sewing. Most people don’t notice it; all they see is a beautiful quilt. They do this to remind themselves that God is the only being that doesn’t make mistakes. How freeing is that, to be perfectly human?

The Other Shades of Gray

6/17/2018

I’m not referring to shades of hair color nor the book but to the nuances of life. Black and white thinking, a dualistic perspective, is not only limiting but reduces things to either/or when life is rich in its viewpoints, strategies, and possibilities. Either/or thinking can also end up as right/wrong, a form of judgment.

How often do you find yourself engaged in black/white, either/or, right/wrong thinking when trying to solve an issue?

When such limits are in place your options become more limited, and as a result, you may feel worried, frustrated, depressed, and stressed.

You have a Catch 22—you have even fewer possibilities!

Now you just want an answer, no matter what it is! This is not the same as creating a solution which means going deeper into the issue and really exploring what addresses what’s at the heart of the matter.

Are you stuck seeking a solution to an issue (or issues)? Would you like assistance? Here’s where my complimentary phone consultation can help. After clicking on this link, go to Discovery Session and you’ll be directed to the online scheduler for the time and date that works best for you.

3 Steps to Rid Yourself of Belief Burdens

5/29/2018

Are you carrying beliefs that weigh you down and your life? They may appear in what stops you from saying “yes” or saying “no”, staying put when what you really want to do is move on, or when a voice whispers – “what makes you think you have what it takes?”

Belief Burdens scare us off from pursuing dreams, goals, desires, and even living. They dim your inner brilliance, leading to feelings of being inadequate, unworthy, and undeserving.

Here are 3 Steps to Ridding Yourself from Belief Burdens

1. Do your own inner Google search for the following words or phrases
Picture
And any judgment you make against yourself

2. Explore whose belief your carrying

Each of us carries cultural programming, whether from our families, the community we grew up in, school, religious institutions, the media, and so forth. It doesn’t make any of it true; it’s just what you know and a perspective you’ve learned to filter life through.

3. Depersonalize the belief

View the belief as a pair of glasses, with its own particular lens. What would a different lens show you? What if the lens was more compassionate, had a broader viewpoint, or saw and recognized your inner brilliance and abilities?

Notice when something new appears such as an action or strategy you hadn’t considered, a new view on the situation, or the need for more information.

Need some assistance?

Here’s where my complimentary phone consultation can help. After clicking on this link, go do Discovery Session and you’ll be directed to the online scheduler for the time and date that works best for you.

Steve Jobs on being trapped - is this you too?

5/14/2018

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results
of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's

opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important,
have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.”
~Steve Jobs

I’ve been trapped, have you?

I lived other people’s thinking when I shamed myself about my weight and with my body image shame.

When you’re at a Weight Watcher’s meeting the day of your 13th birthday party, and you remember you lost 2 lbs more than 4 decades later, there’s a problem. As a young teen I knew nothing about Weight Watchers without my mother telling me about it (there was no internet), by suggesting I go, and by taking me there.

I know she didn’t mean for this to turn into shame but with the culture around me, it was almost guaranteed. I also had no ability to see this was done to her, and to others, as well.

The process of change and of healing takes courage; it takes being awake to your life to live your own life! You’re the only one who can do it, but you don’t have to be alone in the process, nor should you.

A client, years ago, called me a “midwife of the soul” as our work together was like giving birth...to herself. Are you ready to do the same? If so, I’m here to be your guide, your midwife, for you to have and to live your Life Breakthroughs! But first we need to talk.

Happy Birthday~

Can a day change your life?

Friday, I went from temperatures in the 40’s, to those in the mid 80’s. It wasn’t magic; it took effort and time. Oh, and a plane, actually two of them!

I was in the Pennsylvania - Delaware area for two weeks. I spent time working, taking walks at Longwood Gardens, seeing friends and family, and celebrating my birthday. Being back on the east coast for the beginning of spring (well, that’s what the calendar said!) was wonderful, despite how cold it was. I love how nature comes alive there, in the spring!

Sometimes, we just need to get out of our everyday in order to change. While away, I found myself renewed, refreshed, and re-energized on every level!

Is your everyday changing your life or keeping you in a rut?

Do you ever feel like time is passing you by and you’re still doing what you’ve been doing year, after year, after year? Are you sick and tired of the rut you’re living in?

I’ll be frank - it will take you time and effort to climb out of that rut, but aren’t you worthy of your own attention? And if not now, when?

Just 30-minutes can change your life!

You can start getting out of your rut right now by taking advantage of the complimentary phone consultations I offer. Click here, and then on Discovery Session to get started! You will be directed to the online scheduler so you can choose a date and time that’s most convenient for you. I have openings for only 5 new clients, so we’ll want to talk soon!

How much failure do you really need?

4/17/2018

How much longer are you going to put up with frustrations, failures, and problems in your life? It could be the pounds you still haven’t lost (or regained) or the cigarettes you still smoke. Maybe it’s your worries or anger that follow you like a dark cloud or a habit that’s driving you crazy. It could be you’re stuck in a rut and don’t know how to get out.

Just how frustrated do you need to be for enough to be enough?

A hypnotist might not be the first person you think of, but you might be amazed to learn the results others have achieved using hypnosis. Studies have shown its effectiveness for physical issues such as irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, and pain management and it’s been used for anesthesia during surgical procedures. Others have used hypnosis to lose and keep weight off and to quit smoking. Add mood improvement, fears and phobia, and sports enhancement and you’re getting the idea of just how useful hypnosis truly is.

Nothing will change now unless you do something, now.

I can make your initial step simple.

You can, right now, arrange for your complimentary 30-minute phone consultation to learn how hypnosis can be what you’ve needed to help you finally succeed! Follow this link and you’ll be taken directly to my online scheduler. I only have space for 5 new clients during April and May. Will one of them be you?

Transformation in flight!

4/10/2018

Even when it’s imperceptible, change is always happening. It’s from change that transformation happens. Take the butterfly – it starts out as an egg, turns into a larva then a pupa, and finally into an adult where it takes flight! Just like human beings, each stage looks different.

And you, my friend, are just like the beautiful butterfly!

Each decade you move through offers opportunities for inner change and transformation. With it comes the death and rebirth of parts of yourself, just like the metamorphosis the butterfly goes through. Some happen whether you want them or not, the only choice you have is how you view it and use it. Then there are others you have the choice to undergo.

Me, I’m headed into another decade! It’s going to change and transform me further. How? Talk to me in 10 more years!

Where you are in your life?

As you consider this, I hope these butterflies below inspire you, no matter where you are in your life! I saw them at the Tucson Botanical Gardens in an exhibit where they are all around you! Sometimes the whoosh by you, other times they land on you.
