"A" for effort?

9/24/2015

"It's overcoming the obstacle that creates satisfaction not the winning."

This quote that I recently heard reminds me of nursing school. My chemistry lab partner and I struggled together to pass the class, Let me say I am ever so grateful I haven't had to balance equations since! During the next 3 years I was aware she needed to put more effort into studying than I did and I shared my notes with her whenever she asked. Perhaps it was that I went part time during the first 3 years of nursing school, as many of the credits from my first degree transferred, but then again I also worked 3 jobs.

It occurred to me that effort (overcoming an obstacle) was never recognized or acknowledged especially when grades were given out. It didn't feel fair to me as effort tells you a lot about a person---when the going gets hard do they roll their sleeves up and get going or do they give up? My lab partner never gave up, she persisted! I know this made her a very good nurse.

On the other hand the student that ended up with the highest grade point average in our graduating class didn't need to put in the same amount of effort and didn't seem to have the hunger to be good/great at what she did.

I don't know about you but I'd rather have a person who has the drive to excel at what they do as they become committed to leveling up and challenge themselves to be their very best as they move through obstacles. They develop character, resiliency, and competency. This is a very powerful way of being!

Inspiring isn't it?

Is it the situation or vision?

"Live your life from your situation or you can live from your vision."

Have you ever dwelt on or complained about the What's Happening in your life? If you have, you'll notice that your focus is on an event or something someone said or did, and as a result your feelings resonate in response to it. I've shared about resonance before and how it takes you back to your past so you end up living in the past and not in the Now. You can get caught up in a feedback loop getting the same outcomes and wonder why.

When you live your life from your Vision you are forming your life based on where you want to be rather than allowing the past to determine your course. A vision, one that draws you into living and action, requires you to hold your sights higher than what you've been doing. As a result it calls you into your future in a very powerful way.

So the question is---where do you want to live your life from?

S.H.I.N.E

Huge changes are on my horizon, one that will profoundly change and transform my world once again. I will share more when details are confirmed. In the meanwhile I know I need to, not only up my self-care, but attend to my emotional well-being with greater intention.

When you're experiencing huge change your footing isn't as sure, the ground has shifted and it may not even be there. It is part of the process of inwardly shifting while also needing to know what was there, what you've known, may no longer exist, either. Here is where the S.H.I.N.E. process is valuable as it can give you insights to what you need to help you along the way! Using what's happening in my life, here is what I'm present to:

S=getting unStuck

My thinking is where I can get stuck. The shifts that are happening are so fundamental that my current way of perceiving and responding no longer work; it's like an outdated Operating System that can't accommodate the upgrades.  As a result I'm letting my conscious mind take a rest and letting my intuition be my guide and trust, as this in not about my intellectual processing.

H=pushing past Hurdles

Ah, the hurdles! I'm aware these are also coming from my thinking! There are times I see only "x" options and when someone offers "y" I automatically go to how it can't work without pausing and exploring what IS possible. I'm getting training in really listening, free of my inner critic shooting down the idea.

I=clarifying your Intentions

I want, need, and desire what's up ahead. I've been seeing a wonderful outcome of these events so much so that I've been "visiting" my future! This allows me to create the energy needed to have this happen. I am so excited that it naturally fuels action.

N=Nurture your dreams

Here is where I've been using my tribes. You want to be selective with the people you share with, as you want to do so with people who mirror your excitement and don't shoot it down with "who do you think you are doing that....?!" or "you know it might not work="I don't want to see you disappointed"="It's me who's afraid of being disappointed".

E=Embracing your brilliance:

The people I've shared with see and feel my excitement! Radiance is a perfect word to describe how I come across. What can be more brilliant?

Here's to your own S.H.I.N.E.-ing!

Are you interested in attending a complimentary S.H.I.N.E. seminar? Dates are being lined up, so stay tuned!

How clear is your Perspection?

9/2/2015

You may have noticed the red line under the word Perspection in the subject line of my email. The word doesn't exist, at least not according to spell check. I'm often inspired during my client sessions where thoughts, ideas, and awareness surface and this was one of them! I said this word during a session and a light went off in my mind:

Perspective + Perception = Perspection

For you to have clear Perspection and all it offers, you need to create unity between clear Perception and clear Perspective, as together they create a powerful third way of being. Actually, putting these two together with a lack of awareness will keep you stuck and unempowered.

You filter every bit of information automatically through your Perspective and Perception so it occurs to you as seamless. We've been led to believe what we end up with is The Truth (with capital "T"s). But where you end up many times isn't what's true.

We all have wounds, places that are sore spots, so when they get touched or triggered we respond from a place where the Little One we once were (the Little One who experienced the initial wounding) ends up reacting.

Without awareness we can't know this and we are unable to separate our reaction from what happened.

One of my woundings is the belief I don't belong. It can show up in situations when I'm with more than one person like when in a group. As a result I can shut myself off and shut down; I do this as a means of protecting myself from being hurt----after all who wants to be re-wounded?

But here's what's so wonderful!

With awareness you can spot when it happens and see it's the

Perspective + Perception = Perspection at work.

I've had to work at bringing all of this to my awareness and it's a process that occurs over time. I am so grateful I can shift what I thought was The Truth and recognize it was only the equation at work AND I know how to change what I put into the equation. You too can choose this powerful way of living! Start by keeping the equation in mind and be aware you are filling it in. Ask yourself, "Is this really absolutely true?" Just asking this question allows you to be aware and check out if it's a wound that's speaking. Interrupting what's become automatic gives you the ability to notice things from a broader perspective! And yes, it will take practice to master this process just like any new habit.

Here's to clear Perspections!
