Why is it so hard to ask?

Do you ever feel like it’s hard to ask for something?

Have you ever noticed a difference between asking for general ‘surface’ type things like directions or information and asking for something for you? I was having a conversation with a friend who is in the midst of huge changes as she’s creating a new life and this subject came up; she’s having trouble asking her friends and communities for help saying she didn’t feel deserving and that her pride is in the way as she should be able to do this herself.

Can you relate?

I certainly did. She was open to ideas so I suggested writing a letter or email to the people in her life letting them know what’s happening, how important they are to her and how they make a difference in her life, and that she needs and would appreciate their help.

Why can it feel shameful to need let alone ask for help?

I listened to my own counsel and sent a similar email to my friends that night. I asked for their help for the same reasons my friend had – to be able to contribute to and make a difference in the world.
I’m gathering my courage to ask you for your help too.

My work, who I am is about assisting people in being all that they are and to freely live the life they’re here to live while experiencing more joy and happiness as they do. Doing this requires clearing the internal negative and limiting voices and thoughts you carry that show up in the form of distracters/habits such as smoking, overeating, feelings of sadness or anxiousness, and fears. This is the focus of what I do whether working with private clients or groups.

So I’m asking for and would appreciate your help.

Below is information and a link to the free seminars I am leading next week in Delaware and I’d love if you came, brought friends and family, and passed this information on to people you know whose lives can change because they came too. There will be a very special offer to those who attend when they go on and work with me one-on-one. Time is short I know (and seating limited) – I had my fears about asking for something for me from you – but I don’t want to stay in that fear anymore.

And yes, this was difficult to do but you gave me the opportunity to be bold and speak up. I hope my actions inspire you to ask for what you need too! This is changing the world one person at a time my friend! Pass it on.

Did you just get time programmed?

This past weekend many people changed their clocks one hour ahead. I did not. For the first time in my life I live where the time, where the clock, stayed as it was which confused my lap top as it doesn’t have Mountain Standard Time as an option or I haven’t found it. This change requires a new calculation skill of me - adding and subtracting time especially since for now I work nationally. Check in with me when I’m traveling and working internationally!

But what does it mean when we change the clock?

You aren’t really changing time as there are still 24 hours in a day isn’t there? You are however changing your orientation to time. With ‘spring forward’ the number of daylight hours you have abruptly changed (even with snow I might add!). The daylight here in Arizona will gradually get longer too and I like the idea of letting the rhythm of the seasons unfold instead of externally forcing it. Time becomes more about how I am oriented to it (an internal process) instead of an outside force (external process) dictating it. Remember changing the clock started here in the United States 99 years ago and here are “8 Things You May Not Know About Daylight Saving Time” .

Changing the clocks just became part of the programming we grew up with. Programming is just like that - given enough time it’s all people remember but it isn’t the complete history of who as well as what we are. Some programming can be helpful such as what side of the road a country drives on but there’s programming outside of our conscious awareness that isn’t helpful that in fact keeps your perspective of yourself, others, the world, and if you’re a Sci-Fi fan the Universe and Galaxy. When you have a small narrow view you can’t see all that’s there. The broader your view the greater your perspective which can in turn take how you live and yourself to greater heights!

Here’s to your greatness, to your breath taking vistas!

Do you know how to take aim?

A few weeks ago I went to a shooting range with a friend who is a gun enthusiast and my son who was visiting. This was my second time handling a gun and I have a healthy respect for what I don’t know about them. Here in Arizona the number of gun owners is very high (I’ve been told 60% of adults have them) and you can open carry them. I admit I am ambivalent about guns and have judgments about gun owners– or maybe it’s the intent people have around their use.

My friend emphasized what we needed to know to be safe and was very vigilant in making sure we were. If you don’t know you wear special ear plugs or headset to muffle the sound as well as protective glasses so the bullet casings don’t hit your eyes.

What had a profound effect on me though was when he coached us through holding the gun, aiming it, and how to allow the trigger to surprise us when it fired versus anticipating and reacting to it which has you overreact; it felt like a lesson on how to accomplish a goal. We can indiscriminately aim at a goal, a target, and just fire away without focus or planning or we can take aim by planning, strategizing, and reevaluating our efforts (not ourselves) using the results which lead to more planning, strategizing, and reevaluating. For me to integrate an intellectual concept into a kinesthetic or physical experience was very helpful and broadened my understanding.

I admit that when I hit bull’s eyes it didn’t feel like I knew how I was doing it, it was more like “I did that?” My friend told me many times I did very well and I know he will take me out again if I want more practice. I don’t know what I will end up doing but I have this wonderful understanding about taking aim.

What are you ready to put your aim on?
