Stop it!

I spent this past weekend in the hospital with my mom. She called me Saturday morning saying she had a sudden onset of a right sided headache, blurred wavy vision, nausea, and numbness along her right cheek. I knew her calling me meant she was scared. When I told Jim about her symptoms, he said she needed to be checked in the ER and a CAT scan done. It seems she had a TIA (Transient-Ischemic-Attack) what is also called a mini stroke. She was observed overnight in the hospital and had an MRI in the morning, along with other testing. Her MRI was clear (no damage to the brain occurred) and she was discharged. I'm sure you can imagine the sigh of relief we shared.

Life can change suddenly, on a dime.

During this experience I was humbled, scared, and was my mom's advocate. There was laughter, too. I sent the word out to my tribes, as I knew I needed their support. I believe in the power of prayer and am so grateful for all the prayers and thoughts from friends and family. I am grateful for the way one friend cheered me up Sunday morning, giving me a reprieve from all the uncertainty; it's good to have people who think outside the box! I'm grateful for people I know who can be part of my mother's wellness team, if she's interested in pursuing what they have to offer her.

I'm also so very grateful for all the love coming my way.

Do you reach out to others when you're in need or do you only work on the giving side? If you do more of the latter, STOP IT. If you don't allow yourself to receive you really aren't giving to others. If you don't feel worthy of receiving or think you should be stronger and, therefore, need to go it alone, STOP IT. In order to give, you must receive as you need to experience the circle give and take really is----as important as it is to be a contribution, it is equally important to let others be a contribution too.

I'd like to be a contribution to you so I hope you'll take a few minutes and read about stroke prevention. If you're looking at improving the way you eat or your physical activity, let me recommend Jessica Lewis to you. Do you need to do something about your stress levels, get help in quitting smoking or lose weight, then consider a complimentary consultation with me.

Here's to your health!
