As a woman I know what it’s like to be pulled in so many directions: family, work, home, dealing with inboxes, and everything else. Finding time for myself was a luxury and always elusive. Time after time I was at the end of my To Do List if I ever got on it. Start exercising or begin eating healthfully? Not this day/week/month/year. I’d wake-up in the morning already behind in my day and then there was that familiar knot in my stomach.
Sound familiar?
I knew I needed to do something. I knew something had to give or it was going to be me—-but it already was me! I was overweight, eating lots of refined carbs (pass the ice cream, please), sedentary, stressed, and seeing a future Beth who was stuck in a rut, unhappy, and exhausted.

Then my life and work took an unexpected change. In 2002, after 16 years of working full time as a nurse, I became a certified hypnotist and fulfillment coach. A whole new world opened up. My work as a hypnotist taught me how to clear what was fueling my overeating and soothing myself (numbing) with food. I started listening to how I spoke to myself and realized how those words affected my thoughts and actions. I learned finding the time doesn’t work--making it does! I tapped into the shame I’d been carrying (along with the weight) which kept me from reaching out to others for help as I was afraid they’d find out I was a fake and I wasn’t someone they’d want to be around. I knew I wasn’t alone in feeling this way as so many of women I worked with also shared the same thoughts and feelings.

Embracing Your Brilliance is my way of sharing what I’ve learned from my years of experience as a health educator, nurse, fulfillment coach, and Board Certified Hypnotist. It is a way to bring about honest and meaningful conversation in a safe and supportive environment while breaking the isolation so many of us feel when we’re struggling and don’t feel good about ourselves. It is my intention to create community so each of us is supported as we transform ourselves and our lives from the inside out. And lasting change always starts from the inside, doesn’t it?
I began making small changes that, when strung together, became bigger ones. Working from the inside out led me to feel good about myself and comfortable in my own skin, making choices that were now in alignment with who I am. Outwardly I’ve shed 8 clothing sizes and am able to keep the weight off for the first time ever! I’ve changed how I dress myself no longer trying to hide my body in my clothes. I’ve been working out everyday 98% of the time since July, 2011. Inwardly I have a sense of confidence and self-love I never felt deserving of in the past.
